Veteran’s Services

What we do.

Minnesota North College has shown its commitment to being a veteran friendly campus by being a Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Program.

Minnesota North College is committed to supporting student-veterans and active-duty service members, recognizing the unique challenges they face, including personal, relationship, educational, and employment hurdles. We also understand that the families of veterans may need additional support, both during deployments and when their loved ones return home.

How We Help Students

Education Benefits

The determination of eligibility for veteran and dependent educational benefits is made by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).  Students who may be eligible to receive VA educational benefits should apply online at www.gibill.va.gov or contact the Regional Coordinator for the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs.

Am I eligible?

Eligible students should notify the VA School Certifying Official (SCO) at Minnesota North with a request to be certified for VA Education Benefits. Students are required to notify the SCO any time a change is made to enrolled credits (dropping, adding, or withdrawing from courses), the program of pursuit, and/or if withdrawing from school.

Enrollment Assistance

How do I get started?

Eligible students should notify the VA School Certifying Official (SCO) at Minnesota North with a request to be certified for VA Education Benefits. Students are required to notify the SCO any time a change is made to enrolled credits (dropping, adding, or withdrawing from courses), the program of pursuit, and/or if withdrawing from school.

It is assumed that students enrolling in sequential terms (fall to spring, and spring to fall) intend to use their VA educational benefits each term. If this is NOT the case, the SCO must be notified.

Any student returning from a break in enrollment at Minnesota North (excluding summer term) needs to let the SCO know that they have returned and wish to use their benefits. (Students need to contact the SCO to request summer course certification.)
